SAS Automation Asia Ltd, a robotic end-of-arm tooling supplier has expanded their line of components with new Quick Change Chuck to improve production efficiencies. The basis for any modular system of EOAT components is how it interfaces with the robot. According to SAS Automation, Quick Change Chucks can be mounted directly to the robot and can facilitate quick EOAT changes.
The mating dovetail plate to the chuck is on the EOAT and it quickly slides into the chuck and locks and locates into place. The EOAT has quick disconnect fittings that plug into the chuck for air and vacuum lines. Also, a “smart” junction box is used for the electrical interface with the robot, and includes LED’s to assist troubleshooting and the inputs/outputs can be sinking (NPN), sourcing (PNP), or dry contact. The company adds, this Quick Change Chuck is adaptable to every robot, and is an economical, one-time investment per robot. It makes EOAT interchangeable between robots while minimizing downtime during setup changes.
With this tool, EOAT grippers stays aligned & secure. This new Quick Change Chuck is an addition to the full line of SWM’s currently offered by SAS Automation. The SWM’s are manufactured for all ranges of part sizes. The new component line can service any North American, Asian, or European made robot, and is capable to handle a wide range of both injection molded and other manufactured parts, regardless of shape, size or weight.
