A new generation of blowing agents for polyurethane and polyisocyanurate insulating foams is being developed by Arkema to replace hydrofluorocarbons.

The new materials are described as fourth generation blowing agents, and are hydrofluorolefins – HFOs. Arkema will be unveiling its new blowing agents in a conference paper at the Utech polyurethanes conference and exhibition in Maastricht in the Netherlands on April 1.
