Lubrizol Specialty Chemicals (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of The Lubrizol Corporation, is introducing new plasticizer-free soft Estane Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) grades at the 2009 Chinaplas in Guangzhou, PR China.
The new grades are for use in injection molding processors and exhibit excellent flexibility, softness and abrasion resistance — performance attributes for which Estane TPU is well known.
Most soft TPUs contain a plasticizer that may be subject to regulation by environmental agencies. In addition, plasticizers can gradually migrate to the surface of the molded product, creating poor aesthetics and altering the bonding strength.
The new plasticizer-free Estane TPUs (formerly sold under the Skythane name) are available in both a polyester series (T460AH, T460A, T465A and T470A) and a polyether series (T365A and T370A). The plasticizer-free Estane TPUs range between 60A to 77A Shore hardness and offer high transparency and outstanding UV stability. These grades are ideal as replacements for rubber and PVC in various molding applications
