At the recently concluded Interplas in Birmingham, the UK, Dr Boy GmbH & Co KG showcased five injection molding machines with
different technologies.
Among them was a Boy 55 E with a clamping force 550kN to produce golf tees using a 12-cavity mold at the fair. With features including a swing-out injection unit and a four tie-bar cantilevered two-platen clamping system, it is characterized by the use of the servo motor pump drive for additional advantages when compared to competitive machines.
In addition, four Boy XS machines provided live demonstrations. Boy XS is the smallest machine from the company with a footprint of just 0.74sq m. Despite its compact design, the machine’s performance is comparable to that of larger models, with advantages including the patented and easily operated Procan Alpha control and the flexibility to run different applications.
At Interplas, the Boy XS demonstrated the production of osteosynthesis plates, which are used to fix bone fractures. The use of a new nozzle type enabled the sprueless production of the plastic plates.
