MEDTEC Europe 2011 was successfully held from March 22-24 in Stuttgart, Germany, during which Wittmann Battenfeld, a manufacturer of injection molding machines for the plastics industry based in Austria,
grabbed visitors’ attention by showcasing a medical technology application on a MicroPower 15.
The exhibit, in addition to a rotary disk and a W8VS2WITTMAN robot for parts removal, was equipped with an integrated quality inspection system operating with image processing and a clean room module as well. A medical clip made of POM with a part weight of 0.003g was produced in a four-cavity mold supplied by Microsystems UK in a cycle time of only four seconds. With this application, cost-efficient production of a complex micro part under clean room conditions was demonstrated.
The all-electric MicroPower is a machine from Wittmann Battenfeld’s new PowerSeries specially suited for medical technology applications.
