The average price of gasoline in the United States held steady in the past two weeks, mirroring stability in crude oil prices, the nationwide
Lundberg Survey showed.
The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was flat at $3.61 as of Aug. 26, the survey of about 2,500 gasoline stations in the continental United States found.
Tucson, Arizona had the lowest average price for regular gasoline at $3.26, while Chicago had the highest at $4.02.
Hurricane Irene forced millions of Americans to stay home this weekend, and that lower demand will likely put some downward pressure on prices of the motor fuel, said Trilby Lundberg, the survey’s editor.
