The Packaging Federation has announced that the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Packaging Manufacturing Industry has been reformed following June’s snap general election.
Mark Pawsey, Conservative MP for Rugby & Bulkington, remains chair & registered contact. The other officers are: Peter Aldous, Vice Chair, (Conservative), Tom Tugendhat (Conservative) and Ian C. Lucas, treasurer (Labour).
Other members include Conservative MPS Nigel Adams, Selby & Ainstey and Rachel Maclean Redditch and Labour’s Stephanie Peacock (Barnsley East) and Ian Lucas (Wrexham).
Commenting on the importance of the packaging industry communicating with MPs, particularly during the Brexit negotiations, the Packaging Federation’s chief executive Dick Searle, said: “It’s still depressingly obvious that the majority of MPs have little understanding that wealth is generated solely by business. Getting this message across is vital if we are to get political support for a Brexit solution that enables business to remain strong and function effectively with available markets and people. Face to face lobbying is clearly the most effective way of getting the message across.
