The organizing committee for the new SPE Shanghai TPO Conference has announced the event’s preliminary technical program.
In addition to two keynotes, a total of 23 presentations (including one plenary talk) will be given in seven sessions in a single technical track during the two-and-a-half-day program.
“Because of their versatility and low mass, thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) materials are being used extensively for a great number of automotive applications,” noted Dr. Sriman “Norm” Kakarala, SPE Shanghai TPO Technical Program Chair and retired-Inteva Products LLC.
During the first day of the conference, sessions will be focused on TPOs for automotive interiors to highlight the fastest growing automotive segment.
After opening remarks, a keynote presentation by Dr. Rose Ryntz, Vice President, Advanced Engineering & Material Development, International Automotive Components Group on “The Changing Landscape for Plastics Use in Interior Automotive Applications”, a message from SPE International, the first day technical program highlights, and a break, the formal technical program begins with a session on Soft TPO Applications containing three presentations, the first of which is also a plenary talk.
The afternoon’s program features two sessions – Coatings for Automotive Interiors and Rigid TPO Compounds – split by a mid-afternoon break.
Critically important lightweight technologies will be covered during the second day of the conference.
After opening remarks, keynote presenter, Dr. Stéphane Quilliet, Engineering Manager-Injection Molding Team, RocTool, will give the talk: “On the Road to a New Standard: High-Definition Plastics”. This will be followed by the second day’s technical program highlights and a break before the formal technical program begins with the first of a two-part session on Lightweight Technologies.
A third session on Material Developments follows after a mid-afternoon break.
The last day of the conference begins with opening remarks and then immediately goes into the first of two technical sessions on Process Developments (with two presenters) and Modeling & Measurement of Scratch Resistance (with three presenters).
The inaugural SPE Shanghai TPO Conference will be held in Shanghai, China from March 22-24.
