Arburg announced that it has received new ISO 50001 certification as well as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications from newly appointed independent testing corporation TÜV Süd on July 19, and claiming to be the first company being triple certified in this regard.
ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are two existing certifications regarding products’ quality assurance and energy efficiency respectively. The international ISO 50001 standard, Energy Management Systems, was only published for the first time in English in June last year, with the German version following in December 2011.
The objectives of new ISO 50001, as stated by TÜV Süd, are “the continuous enhancement of an organization’s energy-related performance. The standard outlines the requirements that an organization needs to fulfill for the purposes of introducing, implementing, maintaining and improving an energy management system. This systematic approach is intended to enable an organization to improve its energy-related performance, increase its energy efficiency and optimize its energy utilization.”
Arburg commented that it proves the company is committed to implementing and complying with individually quantifiable energy-efficient measures. These strategies underlying the new energy management system are planned and organized by the energy-efficiency group, comprising experts from various sectors which has been set up since 1996.
