The use of KREYENBORG machines in hazardous areas Since July 1, 2003, the European law directive 94/9/EG, better known as the “ATEXDirective”, has existed for explosion-protected electrical and mechanical devices, components, and protective systems. According to this directive, the operator of a plant is required to use only machines that are exclusively designed for these areas. He has to prove that only devices specifically designed for this application are being used and that the installation is safe.

KREYENBORG has dealt with this type of protection long before the introduction of the “ATEX-Directive” and has designed its machines and components of the plastics industry for the use in hazardous areas in terms of the electrical design and project planning. Since the introduction of the “ATEX-Directive”, KREYENBORG steadily expanded its competence with regard to the corresponding prescribed structural design and thus has over 10 years experience in this area.

The product range includes screen changers, gear pumps, and polymer valves, which are designed in-house by KREYENBORG and optimized to the customer’s individual needs. KREYENBORG offers its customers an “ATEX Checklist” that allows the customer to exactly describe the requirements for the particular machine right from the start. Following the submission of the classification of the individual hazardous area by the customer, all necessary structural and instructional tasks are identified through analysis of the ignition source. Through preventative work, all necessary measures can be taken for the elimination of ignition sources, and a maximum explosion protection can be guaranteed.
