Injection molder Value Plastics introduced new medical connector range

Value Plastics, an injection molder of plastic tubing connectors that we visited earlier this year, has expanded its product range with its new

MQC Series of connectors as an alternative to luer connectors. The ISO 9001-2008-registered company, based in Fort Collins, Colorado, molds millions of components/month in a Class 14644 cleanroom, with average part size of about 1.4g.

Last month Value Plastics was acquired by Nordson Corp., a manufacturer of precision dispensing equipment that applies adhesives, sealants, coatings and other materials in a broad range of manufacturing processes. Value Plastics now operates within Nordson’s Advanced Technology Systems segment, where Nordson serves the healthcare industry with biomaterial dispensing, dental molding, glucose test strip production, and catheter, stent, and pacemaker assembly. For Value Plastics, the new owner gives the injection molder the benefit of a global sales network. At the time of the acquisition, Bruce Williams, president of Value Plastics, commented, “This is an excellent fit for our organization given Nordson’s forward-looking approach, commitment to operational efficiency and continuous improvement, and their global footprint. We look forward to leveraging their established sales channels into various industrial markets and also believe that Nordson will help strengthen our position as the preferred component supplier to the healthcare industry.”

This new range of MQC quick connect fittings was introduced early this summer. The MQC is an ordable push-to-connect solution.
An audible “click” sounds to indicate a secure connection. The fitting is easy to handle, even while wearing gloves, an important feature in clinical settings.

The MQC Series is available in a wide selection of colors, giving end users the flexibility to color code their products. In acknowledgement of the medical industry’s developing ISO 80369 standard, the design also helps to reduce the risk of misconnections, says Value.

The connectors are molded from multiple grades of polyamide, including a USP Class VI material, in a variety of barb sizes.

The MQC Series is available in white, grey, black, green, blue, red, and purple nylon with barb sizes ranging from 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) to 3/16 inch (4.8 mm). The male connector includes a Buna-N o-ring to ensure a secure seal. The fittings are ethylene oxide (EtO) compatible and gamma radiation stable.
