The production and consumption volumes of natural rubber were down 12% and 2.8% respectively in India in June this year, according to a senior official from the country’s Rubber Industry Association.
India, the world’s fourth largest rubber producer, consumed 72,000 tons and produced 54,500 tons of rubber last month. The country’s rubber imports rose year-on-year from 6,948 to 15,000 tons; while exports slowed from 9,451 to 16 tons.
The production volume of rubber in India between April and June 2009 amounted to 159,520 tons, representing a fall of 11% from the same period last year
