High-end technology and reliability: the basis for successful partnerships
At NPE 2012 in Orlando, Florida, PVC compound manufacturer Vinyl Compounds Ltd, UK, sealed the deal on another extrusion line for producing rigid and soft PVC granules. The last order was only shipped in autumn of 2011, as the company is currently replacing its equipment to further up-grade their production capabilities. Vinyl Compounds now owns eight active compounding lines, with all compounders supplied by battenfeld-cincinnati.
With the creation of the battenfeld-cincinnati brand two years ago, the company’s sales network was improved and a technical revision of the existing machine program created a much better market position for the pelletizing / compounding business. The EMS extruder series has been remodeled for even higher performance. Since then, battenfeld-cincinnati has achieved the highest number of orders for compounding machines in its history, with a total of fifteen orders in one year only.
The long-standing relationship with Vinyl Compounds is based on “Reliability and good technology,” says Richard Loynes, Commercial Director Vinyl Compounds. “We have been buying battenfeld-cincinnati machinery since 1976 and have always been really happy with their performance; this has been proven time after time by us coming back to buy new machines.”
The line Vinyl Compounds has chosen features a BEX 2-130-22V twin screw extruder with energy-efficient AC drive, nitrided steel barrel and an electrically adjustable shear gap (EMS). The screws are optimized for the application and nitrided and coated for wear resistance, with a double venting zone and internal screw temper-ature control. The machine also comes with a touch control for easy operation and process optimization.
The line also includes a hot cutting system with a decentralized hot-cut pelletizer for plasticizing rigid and plasticized PVC which includes a swing-mounted head and pelletizing die and a flange-mounted rotor drive with infinitely variable speed. Outputs between 1,200 and 2,000 kg/h can be reached for PVC-soft and between 850 and 1,500 kg/h for PVC-rigid depending on application.
The order for the new line has confirmed the strong mutual rela-tionship between battenfeld-cincinnati and Vinyl Compounds and further strengthened their partnership of more than 35 years.
